A 100 zlotych tax stamp from the Kościuszko Uprising , 1794, Series C (the rarest series), with a 5-digit serial number: 11242
A piece in superb condition with vivid colors, no watermark elements in the paper, no creases or folds in the body of the note, with only a slight crease in the upper-left corner; were it not for a flaw in the upper part of the note, this would be one of the finest pieces to appear at auctions in recent years. The banknote has a tear at the “100” denomination mark, which has been repaired by gluing; the technique used for this repair suggests that it was most likely performed during the production stage?
The letters “B S”—a chemical security mark—are clearly visible on the banknote, as are the legible dry stamp and the very clearly visible signatures of the three commissioners: J. Gaczkowski, J. Klek, and A. Michałowski, each executed in a different type of ink.
