"Thenachor"
A painting according to the famous work of the Dutch master Jan Steen (1626-1676), who painted "Thenachor" around 1650-1660.
The work on display is a faithful copy painted on a porcelain plaque, glazed specifically to imitate the texture in the paintings of the old masters.
Mid-19th century.
Author unknown.
At the end of the photos, the back of the porcelain plaque (still dirty just after being removed from the frame) with the visible numbers imprinted in the vermilion.
On the back a paper tag from the famous oldest commercial art gallery in the world: Gallery P. & D. Colnaghi and Co. of St Jame's of London, founded in 1760!
Very good condition.
Dimensions: porcelain plaque: 36 x 56 cm, including frame: 59 x 79,5 cm.
Wooden frame, solid. The whole quite heavy.
