Excerpt from a conversation between Elżbieta Dzikowska and Jan Dobkowski:
"ED: The best works are created spontaneously? / JD: Yes. Even my red-green period was not programmed. It came from nature, from the linear search, from tracing planes, contour. I wanted to tease something out of nature, if only on the basis of an
contour. I arrived then at the synthesis of two colors, and this became my philosophy for a long time. This was the beginning of my self, my self-definition."
