One of the most recognized Polish contemporary artists. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he studied sculpture in the studio of Grzegorz Kowalski from 1988 to 1993. His work includes sculpture, performance, installations and videos, evolving from figures made of unconventional materials and themes of isolation to social and community projects. He began collaborating with the Foksal Gallery Foundation in the mid-1990s, and has participated in key events such as Documenta X (1997), Manifesta (2000) and the Venice Biennale (2003), and received the prestigious Vincent van Gogh Award in 2004. He has also presented his works in numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Art Museum in Helsinki, Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery, the Foksal Gallery Foundation, and Paris' Centre Pompidou.
