One of the most recognizable sculptors of contemporary Polish ceramics.
Graduate of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, he earned his diploma in the studio of prof.
Jerzy Nowakowski. Creates with great respect for the medium, drawing from the
the best traditions of European ceramic workshops. Author of numerous realizations
for public institutions, film, museums (including the Wieliczka Salt Mine, the Museum of the
City of Krakow), sacred spaces and private collections. Two-time winner
of the international competition "Crossroads of Freedom", co-author of the sculptures for the Altar of the
Blessed Sacrament in the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw. His works
can be found in public spaces and in private collections in Poland and abroad
abroad (including Germany, Great Britain, USA).
The presented ceramic bull, painted in geometric triangular patterns, is an
expressive form with a strong symbolic charge. For centuries, the bull has been associated with strength,
courage, fertility and the instinct for life. In Mediterranean culture, it symbolized
also sacrifice and ritual - it was a powerful, wild, but also sacred animal.
The artist, subjecting this figure to aestheticization through a decorative pattern, creates a dialogue between the
the original, almost mythological meaning of the bull and its contemporary,
stylized reinterpretation. The triangles give the sculpture rhythm and dynamism - they
are reminiscent of both mosaics and computer pixel structures, which combines
tradition with modernity.
