Jozef Walczak was born in 1947 and lives in Więcbork. He worked on the railroad for most of his life, but devoted all his free time to carving. He is a member of the Association of Folk Artists in Lublin. He considers his greatest achievement to be the carving of 21 shrines depicting the mysteries of the rosary, which were set up on the Holy Mountain of Polanovsk. He participated in the preparation of the papal altar on the occasion of John Paul II's visit to the Coast. Joseph Walczak's sculptures have found their way into collections in Canada, the Vatican and Australia, among others.
