sterling silver partly gilded 920 hallmarked (repeatedly pierced marks barely legible with walking lion, illegible date letter, city mark (Exeter?) and probably duty mark, goldsmith's monogram E.L - in rectangle) H 12 cm; W 22 cm; D 11 cm; weight 369 g.

Rectangular in plan with splayed edges, supported on 4 lion's foot legs; body decorated with a wide, puckered band, with circular reserves on the shorter axis, in one the monogram G in italics, above it a stepped moulding, the turned edge decorated with a godron band, with a stylized shell and leaves in the corners; on the longer axis tape handles ending at the base with a volute decorated with an acanthus leaf; gilt interior.
