Mozart Rottmann (Ungvar / today Uzhhorod in Ukraine 1874 - Vienna / Budapest 1961) - was named after the composer W. A. Mozart, whose music was loved by the family of the future artist. He initially studied painting in Budapest, later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where his teachers were J. Berger and F. Rumpler. Between 1900 and 1904 he further studied in Munich with Simon Hollósy and Sándor Wagner. At first he painted paintings with biblical content, later also genre scenes and portraits, mainly of women. For a while he worked in the US, making murals. He created in the convention of realism, achieving considerable popularity. His paintings, depicted typical characters and life situations, while maintaining certain national, ethnic and historical features. He mainly depicted happy and contented people, and did not touch on themes of suffering or poverty. He also often drew on motifs from the life of the Jewish community (Reading the Talmud). The artist's paintings are in the Hungarian National Gallery, the Déri Museum in Debrecen, in private collections in Hungary and in museums around the world.
