Max Hänger (Munich 1874 – Fürstenfeldbruck 1941) was a German painter educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he studied, among other things, in the decorative painting studio. He was primarily an animal painter, specializing in birds—chickens and domestic fowl, as well as pheasants, black grouse, partridges, and peacocks—depicted against the backdrop of serene landscapes. His paintings—mostly small in size—enjoyed great popularity and demand. Larger-format works by the artist are extremely rare.
