German painter, 1790-1795, Portrait of a gentleman

The portrait man looks at the viewer over his right shoulder. The look is intelligent, alert and focused. Under the high-collared green coat, he wears a waistcoat, the top lapels of which are folded over the coat. A tie is tied under the open waistcoat. The man is wearing a powdered wig. Due to fashion, the painting can be dated to the early 1890s. The gold embroidered hem of the waistcoat shows fashion awareness. It is probably a portrait of a nobleman, whose fashion at the end of the 18th century under the influence of the French Revolution took on a simpler, bourgeois character.
