The painting was created during the last period of E. Eibisch, in 1975-1985, when the artist was in southern Italy, in Calabria. At the time, Eibisch avoided the gray autumn and winter characteristic of Poland. He was enchanted by the sun-filled vistas, which created completely new color contrasts and became a new inspiration for him. Using mainly color stain at the time, he focused less on form. He created bright landscapes, flowers in vases or pots, still lifes, town views and portraits.
Few of these works were able to be imported and shown in Poland.
The International Academy of St. Augustine has published a short monograph entitled. "Eugeniusz Eibisch. 1896-1987. un polacco in Calabria," introducing the artist to Italian audiences, introducing him to the public and, above all, presenting in this very volume the author's works created in Tropea, Calabria, between 1975 and 1985.
In 2014. Rempex Auction House organized a thematic auction entitled. "Eugeniusz Eibisch in Calabria. An auction of works from 1975-1985," where 50 works from this Italian collection were exhibited. ("Still Life with Grapes" was under item 140). All the works were characterized by bright colors, stronger contours, bold color combinations, as well as the already mentioned conscious tendency to simplify forms.
