Genre painter, son of painter Friedrich. Studied from 1874 at the Vienna Academy, then with Diez at the Munich Academy with Diez. He spent the years 1895-99 in Rome. In 1901, he settled in Vienna. He painted small-format romantic scenes with highwaymen or military scenes, often from the 30-year war.
