Pedestal Table with Micromosaic

Wood

This exquisite pedestal table is a showcase of the painstaking micromosaic technique, a specialty of Roman and Florentine workshops. The circular top features a central floral composition of exceptional detail, created using thousands of minuscule glass tesserae (tiles). This intricate work depicts full-bloomed pink roses, delicate buds, and variegated green foliage with a painterly transition of colors that achieves a near-photographic realism.
Unlike standard Pietra Dura, which uses larger shaped stones, this micromozaic allows for far greater complexity and nuance in the shading of the petals and leaves. The vibrant floral scene is set against a deep black background, which provides a dramatic contrast. The top is supported by an elegant ebonized wood stand with a tripod base, featuring carved Neo-Renaissance scrolls and architectural details. Micromosaic (mosaico minuto) on a black marble base.
