In 2020 Monika Misiak-Kołsut passionately immersed herself in the world of digital painting, discovering its great expressive potential. Her paintings, created in graphic programs, are deeply rooted in the aesthetics of surrealism and magical realism. The artist focuses on women and the beauty of nature, especially the archetype of water, as well as motifs of insects, birds and flowers. In her works Monika Misiak-Kołsut talks about everyday life, dreams, longing, strength and sensitivity of women. Her paintings, full of symbolism and emotion, balance between sadness and hope, inviting the viewer into an intimate world, which she herself describes as a "poetic visual autobiography." The artist experiments freely with color and layers, accentuating key elements of the composition. Through intuitive and personal symbolism, her works engage with themes of emotion, allowing a glimpse into the depths of human experience. Over the past three years, she has had the opportunity to design book covers, create a series of paintings with historical themes, and most recently, her work was recognized and featured in the "Feminine Side of Art" exhibition at Defabryka in Warsaw. This year she was also among a group of promising illustrators, in the Salon of Illustrators, and selected works were presented at the Poznan Book Fair. Several of them also appeared in the quarterly magazine "Page Active."
