Biography
He earned a degree in painting from the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts. He works primarily in oil on canvas. Through his artistic exploration, the artist’s works have taken on a distinctive “spatial form” reminiscent of a relief. In Mackiewicz’s paintings, lines give shape to figures, objects, and phenomena. Light and shadow shape the space, either protruding from or receding into the flat surface of the canvas. The mood is built through color, which either imbues shapes with meaning or contrasts with one another, reinforcing each other. He also frequently uses elements that “levitate” above the canvas to create the illusion of three-dimensionality and deepen the illusion. He has participated in several exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
