Karolina Braclawiec was born in 1989 and lives and works in Gdansk. She is a graduate of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and Marmara Üniversitesi in Istanbul, as well as Art Therapy at Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin. She is a visual artist, painter and mentor; she lives in a world of freedom, proximity, development, process and exploration.
"I learned that to say consciously I don't know is the biggest challenge. I share my world. An imperfect one. A world that has permission and openness to pain and unwanted, difficult emotions. I share a world full of tensions. Of disappointments. Frustrations. Anger. Anxiety. Hardship. Fear. Suffering. I reveal that they constitute our existence and are a value. Meticulously so displaced in favor of excellence, being strong and building up imaginations and what we used to expect of ourselves! In the name of what? I share a world that says: get closer to the truth about yourself. Accept uncertainty and imperfection. You have the right to be yourself. In search of a place for self and here and now - I am. And I create."
She is a finalist of the 24th National Youth Painting Review Promotions, the Young Art Review "Fresh Blood" and a winner of the competition for the Grand Prix of the Franciszka Eibisch Foundation (honorable mention). A painting from the graduation series "Nude. Scene Two" was included in the catalog of the Premio Combat Prize exhibition in Livorno, Italy.
Participant of international workshops: 6th International Student Triennial, SALT Galata, in Istanbul, Turkey and European Forum of History and Arts Cross-Border Network, Kreatiffabrik in Differdange, Luxembourg. Co-author of murals: Women of Freedom with the RedSheels group in Gdansk and in Gdansk Zaspa at the Monumental Art festival; winner of scholarships including: Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdansk, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdansk "Young Gdansker".
