The first issue of the so-called “light thalers.”
A popular issue, marking major changes in Polish coinage that took place during the Kościuszko Uprising. At that time, new denominations were introduced (including one-and-a-half and triple ducats, as well as the cześciogroszówka, which replaced the copper trojaks), and the value of the thalers was significantly reduced. Replacing the eight-złoty thalers with new, smaller, six-złoty thalers.
A variant featuring an oak leaf overlapping the coat-of-arms shield and a colon following “POLON.”
