Monogram Type I (Marzęta)
Coat of arms Type 6 (Marzęta)
The fox (the mint mark of Otto von Meppen, mayor of Riga) on the left divides the circumferential inscription on the reverse.
The full date “1617” concludes the circumferential inscription on the reverse.
A variant with the king’s title SIG … PO M D L in the border on the obverse and … RIGE ... in the border on the reverse.
Condition: NGC MS65
Minimal off-center alignment, but a beautifully struck and superbly preserved coin. Beautiful detail. Intense luster and mint mirror finish across the entire surface. Mint condition confirmed by an extremely high NGC grade. This is the very piece that received the highest NGC MS65 grade, and it is one of only two pieces graded MS65. In this condition, the coin is rare and quite difficult to find on the collector’s market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
