A rarer date. West Friesland minted gold ducats from 1587, but until 1605 they were only ducats of the Hungarian type. The legends are unseen on Netherlands ducats, with a full sentence without abbreviations on the obverse and MO.ORDIN on the reverse. These are one of the longest possible legends that can be found on coins of this type. Letter R punched on E in the words RES and PARVÆ (obverse) and PROVIN (reverse). This is the die sinker’s mistake, probably of Paulus Uyttenwael, the first creator of dies for West Friesland coins, succeeded in 1611 by Jacob Uyttenwael.
An early issue of ducats of the Netherlands type, minted for West Friesland from 1606.
