Zbigniew Jaskierski (Lviv 1928 - 1969 Podkolice) began studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1948, under the tutelage of Eugeniusz Eibisch and Aleksander Rafalowski. In 1954, he received his diploma. That year his work was included in a painting exhibition of members of the Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Artists. He also took part in a large exhibition presented at the Arsenal. In 1955 Jaskierski's works were shown at the exhibition of Young Polish Painting in Berlin and Leipzig together with the works of his colleagues Jerzy Tchórzewski and Tadeusz Dominik. In 1958, the paintings were presented at an exhibition of Polish painting in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington. In 1959 Zbigniew Jaskierski received a scholarship from the French government and went to Paris - the mecca of avant-garde Polish artists - for a year. In 1964 there was his first individual exhibition presented at the Gallery of Modern Art "Krzywe Koło" in Warsaw. In 1966, the First Festival of Fine Arts was organized at the House of the Artist in Warsaw, promoting the achievements of young artists . The exhibition also featured the works of Zbigniew Jaskierski. In 1969, a posthumous exhibition of Jaskierski's paintings was held at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Warsaw. In February and March 1970, Zbigniew Jaskierski's paintings and drawings were presented at the CBWA "Zachęta". Currently, his paintings are both in the collections of Polish museums/National, Polish Army, Western Pomerania and others/and foreign ones: Stockholm, Washington, Florence. Quite a few works are in private collections. He was a subtle colorist and at the same time worked in the realm of abstraction fascinated by the movement of restless matter, the life of irregular and changeable forms, betraying an ambiguous resemblance to the world of object imagery. Considered an outstanding painter of his generation.
