The work "I dreamt I was coming back" is part of the painting and photographic series "About Home". The series is about my research into the corporeal memory of architecture, the walls where we grew up. In the painting I depicted a very close friend of mine. We lived together and went through such a difficult period of our immigration together. We were vulnerable and uncertain of our future. At the same time, we were still closely connected to our hometowns in Belarus, which were experiencing very tragic moments in their history at the time.
"I Dreamed I Was Coming Back" tells the story of a dream as a state of detachment from reality, but also of a dream as hope for a future in peace and freedom.
