Tadeusz WLAZŁO
1923 - 2003
He became interested in drawing and painting at the age of fifteen. However, an unfortunate choice of teacher caused him to abandon his passions for more than twenty years. He returned to painting in 1961, as a member of the Crooked Circle Club. In time, the artist's paintings began to be exhibited by renowned galleries. He himself defined his credo as follows: "The impulse of my painting is not color heroism, the sheer pleasure of juxtaposing colors and hues. I am concerned with the metaphor of painting thoughtfulness about man, especially in these times. This is a difficult matter, as the metaphysical aspects of form and color come into play. I am looking for economical, synthetic forms. I prefer a limited, subdued range of colors, and avoid staffage. A painting should speak, not talk, awaken sensations that count the most in a person. What matters to me is if someone noticing my painting slows down."
