Beginning in 1928, he studied at the National School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Cracow. In the same year he was admitted to S. Szukalski's "Horned Heart Strain". In 1930-1936 he participated in all exhibitions of the grouping. In 1937 Żechowski began working on a series of 37 illustrations for E. Zegadłowicz's "Motors", which was under construction. He also illustrated works by A. Mickiewicz, J. Kasprowicz, B. Leśmian, J. Żuławski.
