Ketut Adi Candra (b. 1973)
His work is not simple abstraction, but mixed media, in which he combines acrylic and oil paint with a collage of clothes or other objects he finds interesting, so that he harmonizes with the colors he applies to the canvas. Sticking to his roots, he also adds a touch of carving to his works, as well as elements derived from the island's traditions. As a firm believer, Adi mainly talks about Balinese tradition, as well as his own spiritual journey through his works. His art is about preserving the island's heritage while reaching out to the spiritual essence. In short, it's about respecting the island through art. His works have been exhibited in many places throughout the archipelago, from Bali to Yogyakarta and Semarang, showcasing a collection of works depicting Bali's rich traditions.
