Bronislovas Jamontas (1886 - 1957) - painter. He studied at the Ivan Trutnev Drawing School in Vilnius. From 1919 (with interruptions) he taught in Vilnius and its suburbs. In 1920 he founded the Vilnius Artists' Society with others. After the war, he taught at the University of Toruń, and from 1946 was Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts (Doctor of Arts - 1953). From 1915 he took part in exhibitions (Lithuania, Poland, USA, other countries): individual exhibition in 1939 in Vilnius. He has received awards and prizes: in 1924 - the Great Gold Medal for "Landscape with a Cascade", as well as prizes from the Stephen Batory University, in 1930 - the Golden Cross of Merit "for services in the field of artistic works", in 1955 - the Cross of the Cavalier of the Order of the Polish Revival.
His early works are characterised by modernist (cubist, modernist) features, decorativeness, stylisation; his later works are realistic, with dmamic compositions and contrasting colours.(Based on the database of artists of the LWML and "Vilnius Art School and its traditions", ed.
