ACRYLIC ON CANVAS, 114X74CM, SIGN.P.D
When I paint, I create a record of truth - the kind I carry inside me, carefully hidden under layers of experience, emotions and experiences. I create in the spirit of expressive abstractionism - with gesture, color, light - stopping the process itself, its "accident", imperfection. I'm not looking for perfection, I'm looking for authenticity - as in the "Ugly Beauty" series, which is so moving because it bears witness to natural gesture like growth, decay, aging, passing.
Ashaolu Iwona "Olabisi" (1965) - painter, graduate of the Piotr Potworowski High School of Fine Arts in Poznań (1985). She creates in Ostrow Wielkopolski, reaching for the language of expressive abstractionism - full of gesture, color and emotion.
