Jan Norbert Dubrowin (b. 06.06. 1957, Piotrkow Trybunalski)
Studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz (now the Academy of Fine Arts). He received his diploma in unique textiles and painting in 1981 in the studio of Antoni Starczewski and Wieslaw Garbolinski. Holder of a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art. From 1991 to 1993 he was a lecturer in painting and drawing at Schola Posnaniensis in Poznań. He has repeatedly presented his work in individual and collective exhibitions at home and abroad, including Rzeszow, Tarnow, Poznan, Nowy Sacz, Kalisz, Sieradz, Bielsko-Biala, Radom, Warsaw, Lodz, Torun, Belchatow, Szczecin, Wisla, Mikolow, Kostroma, Esslingen, Girona, Rivne, Prague. He has participated in many plein-air paintings and post-plein-air exhibitions. He has won prizes and awards, among others, in national painting competitions in Rzeszow and Piotrkow Trybunalski. He actively participates in the cultural life of his city and takes part in all community exhibitions. In 2006, on the occasion of the jubilee of 25 years of creative work, he was awarded the "Bronze Medal for Merits to the City of Piotrkow Trybunalski". In 2014, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of his creative work at the ODA Piotrkow Tryb., there was a cross-sectional exhibition of the artist's work.
The main features of his work are realistic representation of the world and painterly approach to the problem of light and shadow. For Jan Norbert Dubrowin, the main motif of painting is a person, his interior, experiences. Landscape and genre scenes also appear.
