MICKIEWICZ Adam - The Donor. Translation of the fifth song of Voltaire's poem "Pucelle d'Orleans". Warsaw, 1922. tow. Wydawnicze "Ignis". 16d, pp. 27. broch.
Very good condition. One of Mickiewicz's youthful works read to the Philomaths, being a translation of a fragment of "The Maiden of Orleans," Voltaire's libertine poem. Voltaire, a ridiculist, portrayed Joan as a lust-possessed hussy, creating her anti-legend and debunking the myth of the heroic female knight. Mickiewicz gave the translated songs of the poem the title "Darczanka." It was prepared for print and preceded by an introduction by S. Szpotanski.
