ILLUSTRIERTE ZEITUNG was published by J.J. Weber in Leipzig from July 1, 1843 to September 1944 . Initially published as a licensed edition of The Illustrated London News magazine, founded in England in 1842, it was the first illustrated magazine in Germany based on the model of L'Illustration ( Paris ). Discontinued publication of the magazine in September 1944 under number 5041.
