European School (19th Century). "New Horizons: The Departure"

Oil on Canvas

A poignant 19th-century genre scene capturing a momentous turning point in a young man's life. The composition depicts a rural family meeting with a distinguished mentor or benefactor. The central figure, a youth in a vibrant red shirt—symbolizing hope and vitality—stands at the heart of the narrative. To the right, a dignified figure in traditional attire gestures toward the table, suggesting the finalization of an agreement for the boy's education or apprenticeship.
The artist masterfully uses light to focus on this "moment of promise," leaving the rustic interior in soft shadows to emphasize the importance of the decision being made. It is a warm, dignified portrayal of family support and the pursuit of a better future through new opportunities. Oil on Canvas, 28.5 x 28.5 cm
