Ceramics: Silesian BOX
- Porcelain cup by Hermann Ohme
Porcelain, enamel; 7.5 cm x 7 cm
Condition: Very good (slight wear on the gold-colored elements)
The Ohme Porcelain Factory was founded in 1882 in Nieder-Salzbrunn (today’s Szczawienko in Silesia). It was a medium-sized factory, but it quickly gained a reputation for the high quality of its products, which unofficially competed with those of its powerful neighbors—Tielsch in Stary Zdrój and Krister Porzellan Manufaktur. However, the economic crisis of the early 1930s proved devastating for the factory. The company, which relied almost exclusively on foreign sales for its revenue, did not survive the market collapse and declared bankruptcy in 1930.
