The iron basket of fluted bars of square cross-section is formed by three concentric rings on either side of the tent, extending upwards from the base and forming an outer guard, the largest ring being connected by bars to the central part of the guard arch. The openings within the smallest ring are covered by perforated shell-shaped guard leaves, which are attached by two screws. The escutcheon is shaped with a triangular cannelled block in the centre, The vertically ribbed handle is braided with twisted iron wire between Turkish bands. The spherical head is fluted in the same style. Probably Italy circa 1620, length 129 cm. Condition 2+

The opening inside the smallest ring is covered by a pierced shell-shaped plate attached with two screws. Fluted triangular quillon block on both sides. Vertically-ribbed grip bound with twisted iron wire between Turk's heads. Spherical pommel fluted en suite. Probably Italy circa 1620, length 129 cm. Condition 2+
