A set of documents following Jerzy Glinski. The documents concerned his veteran activities. The set includes application cards for the Circle of Former Soldiers of the 1st Uhlan Regiment, an extract confirming military service.
Jozef Glinski was born on March 1, 1895 in Lodz as the son of Seweryn and Alexandra. His education included studies at the progymnasium of J. Radwanski and the gymnasium of M. Gorski in Warsaw, from which he graduated in December 1914, while engaging in the activities of the independence organization of progressive youth. In early 1915, due to hostilities, he left Warsaw and went to Volhynia, where he worked as a teacher for the sons of Stanislaw Lubienski at the Wielick estate. He began his service in the Polish Legions on January 27, 1916, joining the 1st Uhlan Regiment with Stefan Dryler, where he served in the 2nd squadron until the oath crisis. In July 1917, due to his refusal to take the oath, he was interned in Szczypiorno, and then stayed in the camp in Lomza until mid-1918. After the camp was liquidated, he was criminally conscripted into the Austrian army and transferred to Ostrow, and later to Terezín, from where he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment under the command of Lieutenant Jadowski. In the following years, he continued his military service without interruption, passing through the structures of the Ministry of Military Affairs and then serving in the 2nd and 4th Horse Rifle Regiments. He was demobilized at the end of 1920 as an academician, taking an indefinite leave of absence, and from August 1921 took a job at the Ministry of Treasury. A document issued by the Military Archives in 1937 confirms his Legion service and records him in the rank of lancer.
General condition as shown in the photos.
