"Antoni Romanowicz was one of the many Polish artists who came to Upper Silesia in 1920 to support the plebiscite campaign on the spot. The Warsaw-based painter, graphic artist and caricaturist worked in the Propaganda Department of the Polish Plebiscite Commissariat in Bytom from August 1920 to July 1922. He published drawings and caricatures in the magazine "Kocynder" and put them on posters and series of popular postcards. He created satirical scenes that perfectly appealed to the imagination of the mass public. In the collection of the Silesian Library there is a unique portfolio with plebiscite graphics by Antoni Romanowicz. It preserves designs for the most famous posters and postcards distributed during the plebiscite, as well as drawings later published in "Kocyndra"."
