Antoni Uniechowski of the Ostoja coat of arms (Vilnius 1903–1976 Warsaw)—Polish illustrator. From 1923 to 1930, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Karol Tichy (painting) and Wojciech Jastrzębowski (design of solids and planes). He worked in poster design, film and theater set design, and, above all, book illustration; he created light and free-flowing ink drawings, washed with watercolor, gouache, or tempera; he illustrated, among others, Voltaire’s *Philosophical Tales* (1948), Henryk Sienkiewicz’s *The Deluge* (1949), Ignacy Krasicki’s *Monachomachia* (1953), Stefan Żeromski’s *Popioły* (1954), Bolesław Prus’s *Lalka* (1962) and *Emancypantki* (1972), and F.H. Burnett’s *A Little Princess* (1980). From 1945 to 1956, he contributed to the weekly magazine *Przekrój*. He was awarded, among other honors, the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1955) and the Medal of the 10th Anniversary of People’s Poland (1955).
