Lot description
A traditional Russian Orthodox icon, painted in tempera on a wooden board, dating from the 19th century. It depicts the "Virgin Znamenie" (Sign of the Virgin Mary) in a central medallion, surrounded by angels and saints. Rich gilded decoration and a decorative border with geometric ornaments underline the iconographic significance of the work.Preservation corresponds to age, with visible natural patina and minor damage to the lower part.
