Painter and printmaker, honorary doctor of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. One of the representatives of a group of Lodz avant-gardists belonging to the so-called "Strzeminski circle." Served as chairman of the Polish Section of the International Association of Wood Engravers XYLON. From 1974 to 1979 he was vice-president of the Polish Committee of the Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques, and belonged to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg and the Belgian Royal Academy of Science, Literature and Fine Arts, based in Brussels. In various years he gave guest lectures abroad: in Mons - Belgium (1978, 1982), in Marburg - Germany (1990), and in the academic year 1989/1990 he taught at the University of Gießen. He represented Poland at the São Paulo Biennale and the Venice Biennale. A participant in the Wrocław '70 Art Symposium[4]. In 1977 he was awarded the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award, and in 1989 he was honored with the prestigious Jan Cybis Award. He has also received numerous national and international awards at numerous exhibitions, including. at the Biennale of Graphics in Cracow - 1968 and 1970, at the Bianco e Nero exhibition in Lugano - 1972, at the Biennale of Graphics in Ljubljana - 1977, at the Triennale "Graphica Creativa" in Jyväskylä - 1978, at the Biennale of Graphics in Frechen - 1978, at the European Graphics Biennale in Heidelberg - 1979, at the International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer - 1986, Grand Prix at the XYLON International Exhibition in Winterthur - 1994. In 2002, he received the Dr. Lech Siuda Collectors' Award for lifetime achievement in painting and graphic arts. His works are in collections in Poland and abroad, including Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Tate Gallery in London and Graphische Sammlung Albertina in Vienna. In 2003, on the occasion of the artist's 80th birthday, the National Museum in Poznan, the National Museum in Wroclaw and the National Art Gallery "Zachęta" in Warsaw organized a retrospective exhibition of his work.
